Christmas Outreach Program

It's hard to believe, but for nearly 25 years, beginning in high school, I've been helping those in need at Christmas.

This year, the needs are greater than ever before.

Would you consider making a small donation to help me help those most in need (in the most difficult time to be in need)?

As we approach the end of this difficult year, I’m asking you to consider making a tax-deductable donation to my charity work so I can continue to help those in need.

With your help, we will ensure that hurting families will keep their lights and heat on AND have presents for their kids.

If, like me, you feel extremely fortunate for all the gifts in your life, help me help those who, through no fault of their own, have much more difficult lives than we do.

You can mail your tax-deductible donation to Michael Lister Charities, P.O. Box 1130, Wewahitchka, FL 32465 or go to www.Paypal.com, click on Send Money and enter this email address: MichaelLister@mchsi.com

Michael Lister’s Annual Holiday Book Giveaway

Once again, Local Author Michael Lister, will be giving away copies of his books for the holidays.

Give a copy of “Blood of the Lamb,” “Power in the Blood,” “North Florida Noir,” “Double Exposure,” “Thunder Beach,” “Florida Heat Wave,” or “The Body and the Blood” to yourself or someone on your list while supplies last.

Lister’s books are available at The News Herald, The Marina Civic Center, Pizzeria Napoli, WKGC, the Bay County Library, and other businesses around town, and are free while supplies last. You can also email the author to request one of his novels. He can be contacted at MichaelLister@mchsi.com

“This has been an amazing year for me,” Lister said. “I had five books come out, received some really nice reviews, won a Florida Book Award, and now “Double Exposure” is being turned into a film. I’m so grateful, so fortunate, and this is my way of saying thank you. Nothing makes me happier than sharing books. They are my favorite gifts to give and receive. Happy Holidays to all the readers out there and thanks so much for your continued support of my work.”

Lister’s next novel, “The Big Goodbye,” an exciting thriller set in 1940s Panama City, comes out spring 2011.

A Letter from Michael

Please help me help others even more!

In the 20 plus years I’ve been doing charity work, this past year witnessed the lowest contributions and the highest needs I’ve ever seen.

As we approach the end of this difficult year, I’m asking you to consider making a tax-deductable donation to my charity work so I can continue to help those in need.

If, like me, you feel extremely fortunate for all the gifts in your life, help me help those who, through no fault of their own, have much more difficult lives than we do.

As you know, the three areas my charity work focuses on are among the most vital:

Poverty. The Environment. The Arts.

(Poverty)
Through The Direct Effect Project we help people in need by providing food, assistance, teaching life skills classes, operate support groups, empower through education, and work for social justice.

(Environmentalism)
Through The Mother Earth Fund, (which is named after a character from my novel, DOUBLE EXPOSURE) we fight against the fragmentation of and over encroachment in the increasingly fragile ecosystem, provide environmental education, publish eco-empowering literature, take children on nature encounters, conduct environmental film festivals, and support good stewardship of the earth through alliances with other private and government agencies.

(The Arts)
Through The Gulf Coast Writers, Sacred Story Institute, The Tupelo Theater, and aMUSEment, we encourage, educate, and support the arts by providing workshops, classes, conferences, publications, presentations, exhibits, plays, Drama and Film Camp for kids.

Please help if you can. I’m so proud of all we’ve done over the years, but so want to do even more! With your help, we can help even more.

Letters from our Mailbox

Chaplain Lister,

I very much enjoy your teaching. I feel it is Spirit led and inspired with real nugget. You bring the word across real well and I believe you are anointed to be a teacher of God’s Word! I want to thank you for your valuable time spent here with us.

We use a lot of Bibles, books, videos, audios, and DVDs in our faith-based dorm and discipleship programs, but need a lot more. If there is any of the above that you could donate to us it would be really appreciated. The program is a year long and we need as much material as we can get. My number one crisis is to learn more about God and it is hard to do with the Bible I have. What I really need is a NIV Study Bibles. If there is any personal studies you might think I could benefit from please help me out. Thanks so much for your time. God is using you mightly!

Love, Bro. S.G., Gulf Correctional

Dear Michael,

I'm speechless. What an utterly beautiful thing to have done. Thank you so much for the generous gift. Please know of my heartfelt gratitude. The funds will keep the patient in Pro-sure throughout the treatments -- and will, in fact, help keep him alive.

Love,
A..B.

Brother Lister,

I would first like to thank my Lord and savior Jesus Christ for the opportunity that he has giving me writing this letter. I am an inmate at G.C.I. Annex and I attend your services every time you come. And may I say what a powerful message you bring to us that the Lord has giving you to share with others. I would like to request for one of the Bibles that you have for those who are interested in one. May the Lord bless you and your ministry that he has blesses you with. Be encouraged brother and thank you once again for your faithfulness and your love toward us. I know that you could be doing something else instead coming here but instead you come and feed us spiritually. And we need to be fed even more. Thank You.

Unworthy but his, M.J.

Dear Mr. Lister,

Please send me a Bible. The Bible will help me during your Parable’s class and during my growth and walk with Christ. I really do appreciate you taking the time to minister God’s word to me in a way that I can truly understand it. I am so grateful to God for sending you Mr. Lister.

Sincerely, K.A.

Dear Mr. Michael Lister,

It has been a blessing to me when you come her to teach the word of God. I would like to have a Bible. I pray that God will continue to bless you in the things of God. I look forward to seeing you.

Thank you very much. H.J.

Dear Mr. Lister,

I am a new born believer in our Lord Christ Jesus. And a student in your parable class at Gulf Correctional Institution (Annex). I thoroughly enjoy your teaching! The Lord is definitely upon you! And your ministry. I praise him for his wondrous works. I’m writing you in regard to your study Bible offer. Again, Mr. Lister, I am so very thankful to Jesus and your ministry for your love of him and his people. My prayers are with you and your ministry as well as all saints everywhere. May Gods increase his grace upon you and expand your Borders daily. Look forward to seeing you soon.

Love your brother in Christ, O.C.

All Contributions Go Directly to our Charity Work!

100% of your contributions go directly to those in need.

The mission of the Direct Effect Project is to have the most positive direct effect possible in the world, to help people in need with what they need most, to renew, restore, rebuild; to heal, to reach, to teach, to inspire.

We believe people want to help, but are concerned about how little of their benevolence reaches those it was intended for. Some charities, especially those who use the services of professional fund-raisers, pay as much as fifty percent just in salaries, administrative, and fund-raising costs.

Not us. One hundred-percent of everything this project receives goes directly to feeding the hungry, healing the sick, saving families from eviction, giving books and Bibles to inmates, providing scholarships for children, mentoring programs, classes, workshops, seminars and publications—all with the same desired effect: To increase the quality of life for as many people as possible.
